They pass the 'marker' test because they are real currency, but it is a $5 bill with the 5 bleached out, and printed over with a 50. The only way to really tell is to look at the watermark in the light. A $50 bill should have a image of Grant in the corner. Of course, a $5 bill will have a Licoln.
